| is, as I see it, all about Soviet-Russian emptiness/loneliness, the citizen in that would-be Utopia confronted with the metaphysical and the existential. Towards the end the main character, psychologist Kris Kelvin, descends on an isle in that huge Polaris ocean, only to find that the landscape replicates the one where he himself grew up and in the cottage on the isle he observes his father standing on the other side of that grimy window pane. | Willy, Anne Berkely's poetry is tackling the cold war through the eyes of a child..'The men from Praga'(the name of this book) - I definitely recommend it. As for the link, of course I was just reflecting how at times, without even acknowledging it, we come across similar or connected pieces of work...the subcontinent, a powerful tool..:) | |
