You definitely have found your voice, which, I think, it's the main thing when writing. The line that stayed with me longer is: 'when we dance like thin life lines'.

Now seeing the picture it does explain a lot, although it works without the image.
About the singing voice what can I say, as long as the sum is constant, you know...
Have you seen the Holocoust Museum in Washington?

no I haven't. Maybe someday I will.
I've been trying to write a poem on this theme for quite some time. But it never seemed to work.
I wanted to post the picture because in this particular case I needed the message sent as clearly as possible (so thank you)
that's about it.

Hi Dan,

Good to read you again, even though it hasn't been your fault for not being read by the undersigned:-)

I read your poem several times. Perfect return onto the opening thought, yet somewhat like a Möbius strip where the twist removes continuity from any "ordinary" realm.
You are so right. The Holocaust memory must not be forgotten, nor allowed into any "ordinary" realm. Ever. Let the "ghosts" forever keep the verb "remember" at a present tense, because those who viciously grazed on the entrails of my 6 million relatives are dictating again to a stupid, forgetful "european" dumb-hoard...

maybe the European dumb hoard's children should be shown this picture. And many many more. And maybe they should be told : this could have been your father, your brother... etc
But we shy away from graphic pictures. We find them grotesque. (I mean gruesome pictures are ok if Holywood makes them) And this is how mass murder becomes a statistic. And this is how we forget.

my father gave me a history book with many pictures like that, soon after i've learned how to read. i guess he wanted me to learn it fresh, like a native language, that the only thing we should hate is hate itself. of course you're right, today we're sanitizing death and suffering, turn everything into a politically correct video game, like history itself could be reset and start over until the good heroes finally win.

powerful dissent here, the kind we should repeat over and over. not sure i like the euphony torn/return, seems to dilute the message somehow. but you're definitely starting to "collect on your investment", getting settled into a mature form and a very distinct voice.

congrats!
