| There are two ways to see the first poem. One is either as you said: "burning animalism (or lunatic) desire for beauty" - but meaning material beauty, flesh, exterior beauty that has little meaning for me, but for others is a "burning, lunatic desire". The other way is too see it as a burning passion of the heart for another soul and mind. A lover that wants to find the perfect soul and mind and then he realizes that maybe his heart is not so pure as the one he will find in her, so he desires to be Paris but he might become Nero. | |
