Biography George Bacovia

S-a spus ca e, prin formatie, un simbolist, dar îsi depaseste epoca, apartinând poeziei române moderne.
E legat strâns de orasul natal Bacau, unde s-a nascut în 1881, ca fiu de comerciant.
Numele sau adevarat era George Vasiliu.
Studii elementare si secundare în orasul de pe Bistrita; studii superioare, de drept, la Bucuresti si Iasi, cu licenta. Nu a profesat avocatura, ci a fost mic functionar, traind din greu si dedicându-se poeziei.
A fost hartuit, mereu, de boala - fapt reflectat în versurile sale sumbre.
În 1928, se casatoreste cu Agatha Grigorescu si se muta la Bucuresti, unde sotia era profesoara (ea ne-a lasat o biografie detaliata si ilustrata).
A debutat în Literatorul lui Macedonski, însa primul volum Plumb apare în 1916 (premiat de Ministerul Artelor).
Celelalte carti poetice apar destul de rar: Scântei galbene (1926), Comedii în fond (1936), Stante burgheze (1946).
Versurile sale sunt profund originale, creând asa numita atmosfera bacoviana. Ploua mereu, frunzele cad, corbii strabat vazduhul, pe strada trec procesiunile funebre, decorul banal, amantii sunt bolnavi, copiii subrezi, cadavrele se descompun, pretutindeni e plânset, tuse, agonie, moarte.
Capodoperele: Plumb, Decembrie, Lacustra, Cuptor, Nervi de primavara, Amurg violet, Alb, Vocale s.a.
