A weakened shade of purple haze
On struggling mind is spreading
The hour pours in bleak drops
Reflecting into shivering

The light is paler in the dark
That numbs the joyful dreamer
The dogs of emptiness still bark
And silence becomes bitter

From nameless realms of repent
A deadly shadow’s preaching
In fearful cold the soul is sent
Where whipping winds are stinging

Oh, you, whose mind’s a mountain high
With fruits of selfish tears
For you, the night shall never die
When glowing day appears

For you’re the one who thinks love lasts
Just for a worthless hour
And life is just a breeze that blasts
Till death’s clouds bring the slumber.
