Slurring sleepily into my mind,
as I watch the moon rise,
dragging suitcases full of memories,
too hated to carry,
too loved to throw away…
You look tired,
grown old,
wrapped in yesterday,
in used towels
which barely cover your naked soul
Someone hangs stars onto the sky
like Christmas lights,
and your image walks into
the hungry sea
which swallows you in its mirror,
playful waves laugh at the young night
like carefree children,
reaching for my hands
as I try to catch your ghostly form
in the cool thunder,
where it vanishes, slowly,
melting into salt crystals
with the fading moonlight
