The full moon is meditating
silently on a marine sky
in the west clouds are quietly burning
in the stillness of the night
The wind dreams secretly
of faraway lands he has never seen,
fantasy, unnoticed,
slips into children’s minds,
stirring wondrous magic
into pots of chocolate pie
hearts beat consistently
with the night’s breathing,
still in slumber all life,
silence as clear
as the motionless sea
hushes the rain,
and the birds in the trees
In the arms of mother darkness
all creatures sink into sleep,
heavy, irresistible
let go, fall into forgetting
