Compulsive to the limit where compulsion
no longer feels imposed.
Repulsive to the limit where repulsion
no longer is exposed.

And all the cunning tricks of mind
we use for cruel deception
are turning now against the kind
that suffers no rejection.

Before we say life is unfair
we should consider living.
There is no reason one should spare
when love is what one’s giving.

We play with many things in life
but this is not among them.
We shouldn’t care so much for strife –
it leads only to mayhem.

To what horizon shall we stray?
And to what sweet delusion?
Were happiness enough we’d say
we’re still lost in confusion.
