In that one moment,
when day and night touch fleetingly,
and sun and moon sadly
kiss their first good bye,
when forgotten autumn leaves
play hide and seek
on the tired shopping street -
someone draws a maroon veil
softly over the valley’s face;
we walk home to more busyness,
quietly - while dark shadows crawl
all over the giant walls,
playing ghostly games with our minds –
the town now bathed in purple tones
as wide-eyed windows look on,
recovers its breath this empty street,
exhausted from carrying a million feet
