...And What Do We Know?

Tell us. planet

about the joys and throes

each day bring.

We accept the sheer impossibility

of taking it all in.

Ships crossing your great oceans,

trains thundering through tunnels,

planes heading upwards from

the very tip of a mighty mountain,

rags and riches,

laughter and sorrow,

one baby welcomed to the world,

another brutally murdered...

...two lovers in the midst of ecstasy,

another couple breaking up,

man and his ideas

in an ever ongoing struggle.

Who's to get the upper hand?

We are all dying.

We are all being born.

And the desert

embraces the luscious garden.

By midnight this year

will have no more tales to tell.

Those we couldn't take in

we leave to our boundless human imagination,

containing the image of peace and love.
