It feels like winter
in the middle of May,
as if the sun had gone away,
hiding his face in shame
over the world’s cruelty
behind clouds
of cold disgust; maybe
the wind is angry, too,
raging over towns and factories
with sharp, icy blows,
but they stand strong,
they do not bend -
like trees…
it seems the tears
of a million mothers
are falling as rain,
drowning the world in despair
their dead children’s souls,
frightened and lost,
are calling them…
I can hear their cries in the wind
over and over again…
