Nu, n-am sa mor cu totul si sufletu-mi in lira, Lasand in tarna trupul, va dainui mereu; Cat timp poeti pe lume cantarile-si rasfira Slavit socot sa fiu si eu … am desteptat in inimi cu lira-mi bunatatea de-aceea de popoare mult timp voi fi iubit. In veacul meu cel crancen slavit-am libertatea Si mila pentru cel lovit. O muza, de porunca lui dzeu asculta! Sa nu ravnesti rasplata, de-obida sa n-ai teama; Nu-ti pese de elogiu, nu-ti pese de insulta Si nu-i lua pe prosti in seama!
