| - the acknowledgment of mathematics is vital to the understanding of Lewis Carroll's writing. In "Through the looking glass" and "Alice in wonderland" there is an abundance of numbers and mathematical precision. No coincidence there, no sir! Carroll himself was a mathematics professor.
