Just ask yourself: who falls? THEY do. Who are they? THE STONES ABOVE. I'm afraid your "above" is not a preposition, no. It describes your stones, so it has an adjectival function. Your verse there has 2 subjects: THE STONES that are also THEY. I'd like to translate it into Romanian for you: "Si PIETRELE de deasupra ELE cad". I hope you realize what I'm talking 'bout.
