Literary Translation - Translations of classic and original poetry and other materialsThis text is a follow-up  |

uptown
rare lights and
loneliness on
trafficless roads

delving into the boulevard’s silence
your hands gripping the cold air
gestures awaking mysterious animals
within the darkness of a barely growing grass

sun is on the other side
the moon is a 50 bani coin
nothing tears you apart
not even the glazy eyes of a beggar
begging 50 bani to buy a bread
for the homeless he is and his woman

“bread is more expensive, paps!”

the air turns more and more sluggish
your steps flicking away
the moon turning into
a dying starved beggar’s eye

morning shall fall silently
over an ailing uptown
hitting your tired bones
while you are aiming home

humming the Saltarello
behind blood red buildings
limp dogs shall be mating
under your body’s shadow
in this clear, glossy April morning
